# Rolewire

Rolewire is an engineering-first, agent-friendly career discovery platform tracking open roles across leading tech companies. Unlike legacy aggregators, Rolewire never scrapes third-party job boards. All jobs are fetched directly from company career APIs with normalized departments, sectors, and verified direct application links.

## Feed Query Parameters

Both `/feed.md` and `/feed.json` accept the following query parameters:

- `q`: Search query string supporting boolean and qualifier syntax (e.g. `backend london`, `title:staff -crypto`, `(sf or nyc) -vertical:crypto`).
- `dept`: Filter by canonical department (e.g. `Engineering`, `Product`, `Design`).
- `remote`: Set to `true` to return only remote or telecommute roles.
- `vertical`: Filter by sector slug: `ai`, `crypto`, `consumer`, `devtools`.
- `company`: Filter by company slug (e.g. `stripe`, `figma`, `suno`, `allium`).
- `min_salary`: Filter by minimum annual salary threshold (e.g. `120000`, `150000`).
- `limit`: Maximum number of jobs to return (default: `50`, max: `200`).

## Search Syntax Reference (`q`)

The search parser supports expressive query expressions:

- **AND (Multi-word)**: `backend london` matches both terms.
- **OR (Alternatives)**: `sf, remote` or `react or vue` matches either term.
- **NOT (Exclusion)**: `engineer -crypto` or `title:lead !junior` excludes matching items.
- **Exact Match**: `"machine learning"` matches exact quoted phrases.
- **Groupings**: `(sf or nyc) -crypto` or `(python or go) backend`.
- **Field Qualifiers**:
  - `title:role` or `role:name`: matches job title (e.g. `title:staff`).
  - `loc:location` or `in:location`: matches job location (e.g. `loc:nyc`, `in:london`).
  - `co:company`: matches company name (e.g. `co:stripe`).
  - `dept:department`: matches department (e.g. `dept:engineering`).
  - `vertical:sector` or `sector:name`: matches vertical slug (e.g. `vertical:ai`, `-vertical:crypto`).
- **Location Aliases**: `sf` matches San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley; `nyc` matches New York; `remote` matches telecommute roles (matched with word boundaries).

> **Note on Scope**: `q` evaluates across `title`, `company`, `location`, `department`, and `vertical`. It does not index full job descriptions in the feed.
> **Note on Freshness**: `/feed.md` and `/feed.json` track high-freshness active roles published within the last 7 days. The website directories retain broader historical listings.
